Enchanted Rock

Enchanted Rock holds a special place in many Texans hearts and after this day I know why. It is absolutely breaktaking, literally, those rocks ain’t no joke! Lol For those of you that don’t know, Enchanted Rock is an enormous pink granite pluton batholith located just north of Fredericksburg, Texas.  It covers approximately 640 acres and rises 425 feet above the surrounding terrain to elevation of 1,825 feet above sea level.

The only thing we enjoy more than road trips is new exploring adventures, it’s kinda our thing. So this weekend we incorporated both! The drive up there was filled with our usual off key singing, rap battles, pointless stories, motivational driving kisses, endless giggles, and pit stops for gatorade and goldfish. When we got right outside of Fredericksburg there was a huge ranch with baby goats running along the fence. Obviously he had to pull the truck over so we could watch the adorable entertainment. It was the cutest thing!

When we finally arrived and after taking the obligatory touristy pictures we headed in the the information center only to learn that they were sold out of campsites for the night. We were bummed (sidenote: make a reservation next time) but decided to still enjoy the park for as long as we could before the sun went down. There are several different trails to choose from but since we didn’t have a lot of time we chose the most direct path to the top. It is a very deceiving climb, you keep thinking you’ve reached the top only to look up and see there is still a ways to go. The view on the way up is simply amazing and gets better with every step.  It was a pretty chilly day, I started with three layers and by the top I was sweating and regretting my long sleeves. But once at the top it didn’t matter anymore. We stood there for a while  just taking it all in while we caught our breath lol  We had a mini photoshoot for the insta and then cuddled up and enjoyed the remarkable view and each others company. The best part about enchanted rock, is that it doesn’t matter how many times you’ve gone, it’s a different experience everytime. And this time was definitely one for the books!

Hamilton Pool

Hamilton Pool is a beautiful natural swimming pool in a canyon below a 50-ft waterfall, surrounded by a grotto in Dripping Springs, Texas. My ex-boyfriend took me on a surprise trip here after hearing me mention it and showing him the picture I found on Pinterest. I couldn’t believe such a stunning place was so close to where we lived. We had an incredible day and it totally surpassed my expectations. The preserve is managed as a natural area with emphasis on habitat protection and restoration and environmental education, so it offers limited daily access with recreational activities such as picnicking, hiking, and swimming. If you plan on visiting make sure to plan ahead by making sure the water levels are high enough for swimming and early enough to get a good spot. You park at the top of the park and hike down to the pool and that is a treat all in itself. Everything is so green and breathtaking. Hamilton Pool is the perfect day trip for a girls getaway, family outing or date spot. Everyone should add this gem to their travel bucket list!
